General Information about SYI Spring Soccer 

  • Game times are at 6:00pm and 7:00pm 
  • The season begins beginning-mid May and continues through the end of June. 
  • Practices and games are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 
  • By registering for soccer each player will receive a jersey and soccer socks.

 Schedule

General Guidelines
  • Games must start promptly at scheduled time, please arrive 15 minutes early to warm up. 
  • Shin guards are mandatory. Players will not be allowed to play without them. 
  • Players can wear soccer spikes/cleats or sneakers.
  • Soccer is open to all children 4-18 years old. 
  • Divisions are set up as follows:
    • Division 1 – 4 - 5 years old (must have turned 4 yrs old by 4/15/23)
    • Division 2 – 1st and 2nd grades
    • Division 3 - 3rd-5th grades
    • Division 4 - 6th-8th grades
    • Division 5 - 9-12th grades 
      • We may need to make Grades 8-9 their own division if not enough 9-12th graders register. 
  • Generally, Divisions 1-3 play at 6:00pm, with Divisions 4 & 5 playing at 7:00pm. This is subject to change based on the number of registered players in each Division. 
  • Games are played behind/around Springville Middle School and Springville Elementary School. Field locations will be provided closer to the start of the soccer season.

SHIN GUARDS ARE ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY. OTHERWISE, PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE FIELD.

COVID REGULATIONS: Players do not need to wear masks when on the field. If you or your child has any symptoms please stay home.   SYI is following school and county guidelines.

6:00 PM Games:
  • Division 1- Kindergarten: Behind Springville Middle School  (Fields A, B, C, D, E)
  • Division 2- 1st & 2nd Grades: Behind Springville Middle School (Fields 1, 2, 3 & 4)
  • Division 3- 3rd , 4th & 5th Grades: Behind the Bus Barn,  (Fields 5 & 6 & field 7 North St & 8 behind SES)
***Games will begin PROMPTLY at 6:00. PLEASE arrive 15 minutes early so the games can start on time! ***

7:00 PM Games:    Are a combined of Div 4 & 5
  • Division 4-   6th, and 7th  & 8th Graders: (Fields  5 &6)
  • Division 5-  9 thru 12th Graders: (Field 7)

Division 1 - ( Pre K & Grade K)
  • up to 6 players on the field.
  • 2 offense, 2 or 3 defense &  goalie.
  • No referees.
  • Everything is a throw-in. No penalty or corner kicks
  • No aggressive techniques (slide tackles, pushing, etc.)
  • 10-minute quarters, 10 minute halftime.
  • Basic introduction to soccer.

Division 2 - (Grades 1-2)
  • 6 players on field- 3 offense, 2 defense, 1 goalie
  • No referees.
  • Everything still throw-in. No penalty or corner kicks.
  • No aggressive techniques (slide tackles, pushing, etc.)
  • Goalie can throw in.
  • 10 minute quarters, 10 minute halftime.
  • Step up from division 1 basics.

Division 3 - (Grades 3-4 -5)
  • 11 players on field- 3 offense, 3 midfields, 3 defense, 1 goalie
  • Min of 1 referee
  • No coaches on the field. The must stay on the sidelines.
  •  Penalty kicks and  Corner kicks allowed.
  • No aggressive techniques (slide tackles, pushing, etc.)
  • Goalie can do goal kicks and punt in after pickup
  • 12-minute quarters, 10 minute halftime.
  • Should have good understanding of soccer rules and techniques. Reinforcing for more advanced play.

Division 4 - (Grades 6-7 -8)
  • 11 on field- 3 offense, 3 midfields, 3 defense, 1 goalie.
  • 2 referees.
  • No coaches on the field. They must stay on the sidelines.
  • Penalty kicks and Corner kicks allowed.
  • 15 minute quarters, 10 minute halftime. Can also be two 25-minute halves
  • Goalies can do goal kicks and punt in after pickup

Division 5 - (Grades 9-12)
  • 9 on field- 3 offense, 2 midfields, 3 defense, 1 goalie.
  •  2 referees.
  • No coaches on the field. They must stay on the sidelines.
  • 25-minute halves. 10 minute halftime.
  • Penalty kicks and corner kicks are in full effect at this point.
  • Goalies can punt, do goal kicks, etc.
  • Regulation soccer.
